If you’ve ever stepped into Bench Home during the holiday season, you know two things are guaranteed: beautiful décor… and just a little bit of chaos. Between the twinkle lights, the last-minute shoppers, and the candles disappearing faster than I can unpack them, it’s easily our most joyful and wildly busy time of year.
So it feels especially meaningful that this is the season we get to share something new:
Bench Home has officially opened in Point Loma, our beautiful new home.
Why Point Loma?
When I began dreaming about the next chapter for Bench Home, I wanted a space that felt warm, coastal, creative, and deeply connected to its community, just like our brand. Point Loma felt like that.
There’s something magical about the peninsula. The ocean breezes, the quiet tree-lined streets, the stunning sunset views it all feels like a breath of fresh air. Even though we're just minutes from downtown, this neighborhood has a calm, lived-in charm that reflects everything I love about thoughtful, everyday living.
Whether I’m walking through Liberty Station with a coffee in hand, watching surfers at Sunset Cliffs, or chatting with locals, I always feel inspired—exactly the feeling I wanted to bring into our store.
A Place With History and Heart
Point Loma is one of the most historically significant spots in California. This is where Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo first landed in 1542. The real heartbeat of Point Loma comes from its neighborhoods, La Playa, Sunset Cliffs, Loma Portal, and Liberty Station; each one is filled with families, creatives, sailors, surfers, and longtime San Diegans who love this place deeply. It didn’t take long for me to want to be part of that story.
The Perfect Setting for a New Chapter
Moving from our sweet little shop in Kensington was bittersweet, but this new space gives us room to grow, dream, and create an experience that feels true to who we are. More natural light to showcase beautiful textures. More space for home decor, gifts, art, jewelry, and seasonal pieces. More room to curate collections that help you tell your own story through your home.
And during the holidays? Well… let’s just say the twinkle lights look pretty spectacular in here.
